Lil, Big Red, and Little Red have been laying an egg each day for over 8 months (252 days to be exact). How many eggs have we collected? We added 3 little chickens to our peck. The little chickens (still nameless) are 7 weeks old (we believe they are too young to lay eggs). Today we collected an extra "mini" egg. Who? What? When? When? See if you can determine which eggs were laid by Lil, Big Red, and Little Red.
Which eggs were laid by the local farm? If the farm has 89 chickens, how many eggs do they produce each day, week, month, and year? Hint...look carefully.

We found quite a few tutorials on how to cut hair. There is actually a "science" in doing it well. We came up with: measuring, shaping, estimating, patience, self-control, confidence, listening skills, stamina, creativity, and time management.
When we researched what is required to become and actual beautician or barber, we we added tidiness, teamwork, and patience to our list. How are you taking care of your hair and grooming needs? Coding: using patterns to create a method or way of communicating.
A group is either using an existing code such as Braille, Morse, Native American Indian Pictographs, Hieroglyphics, or one of the many other distinct codes out there. Some may even create their own. We will be using letter writing to decode our special and thematic messages. Can you design your own code? NASA (the National Aeronautics and Space Administration) celebrates with a unique perspective and many "at home" activities. Click on the "blue marble" to find cool things to do. Learning how to play an instrument & using this period in time to make a positive difference brings joy to me. I am proud of the grit and determination that this young man displays on a consistent basis. Do you play an instrument? Is reading music a form of coding? I was cleaning out a drawer and found a blank journal that was given to me a long time ago; I thought to myself... it’s a perfect time to start. I wanted to set myself up for success
so that I would continue…. I decided that I will only enter one sentence a day. So, that is my theme…just one sentence a day. I even started using my fancy pens. Maybe you might want to create a time capsule journal or one that only documents feelings or ideas. Perhaps a journal full of sketches or one full of memories. Here are some ideas that we came up with after a short brainstorming session: Wonder Journal The Quarantine Diaries Poetry My Brilliant Thoughts Stupendous Ideas Letters to a “Friend” 2020 the Year….. Jokes Silly Times Explorations While hiking in our woods, we came across a plant that had a spicy and aromatic scent when you snapped the bark - stem. With a little research, we found that this plant's remedies are controversial and date to the Woodland period. This plant's bark root is boiled and used to treat fevers, diarrhea, measles, and even scarlet fever. Native Americans were known to use the root for medicinal purposes. Some cultures used mashed leaves to treats insects bites and wounds. Boiling down the bark root creates a very bright pink tea like liquid. Can you guess what the plant is? See if you guessed correctly. Here is where we got some of our research from. Is learning another language part of a child's brain chemistry? Yup, it is.
Why is it easier for a child to learn a 2nd language? Kids are quick at learning. Kids try. Kids aren't (as) self-conscious as adults. Kids are amazing. Can you think of a benefit for learning another language? (Hint...it stretches your brain.) Time to brush up on my Greek and Spanish. Duolingo is a neat and free! I may try Navajo. Sam is working on his Spanish, Jacob on German, and Jordan on Hebrew. How about you? |
